Financially Supporting our Missionaries
/As Christians, we are called to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to all corners of the earth. One way we can do this is by supporting missionaries who are actively sharing the Gospel in other countries.
Giving to missionaries is an act of obedience to God's command to evangelize the world. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus says, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you..." Supporting missionaries financially allows them to continue fulfilling this Great Commission.
Giving to missionaries is an expression of our love for others. In John 13:35, Jesus says, "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." When we give to missionaries, we are showing our love for the people they are reaching with the Gospel. We want them to hear about the love of Jesus and have the opportunity to receive salvation.
Giving to missionaries is a way to participate in the work of the Kingdom of God. In Romans 12:4-8, Paul writes, "For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another...he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness." When we give to missionaries, we are using our resources to support their work and further the Kingdom of God.
In conclusion, giving to missionaries is a biblical principle and a wonderful way for us to fulfill our calling as Christians. It is an act of obedience, an expression of love, and a way to participate in the work of the Kingdom. Let us prayerfully consider how we can support missionaries and their important work of sharing the Gospel with the world. I encourage you to reach out to your pastor to learn about practical ways you can support missions work both near and abroad.
